This workshop provides ‘hands on’ training on how to be proactive in the media. It will equip participants with the skills to get their message across effectively and confidently. Participants will experience how the media works and learn how to target messages for public consumption.
Participants will be invited to bring a press release to the workshop. It will be beneficial if you have some experience of writing a press release but it is not a prerequisite.
In this one day workshop you learn how to be proactive with your information for the media and build confidence in working with the media. Your press release will be critiqued in a simulated editorial conference and you will be advised on how to target the content for particular audiences. You will also learn how to ‘sell your message’ through a simulated radio interview.
This course is suitable for staff who promote the work of the organisation or ‘sell’ the company’s good news stories and events using the media. You may also be the person who responds to or deals with journalists with ‘breaking news’.
